# Changing an Order's Pickup Time

The timer on a ticket is not counting up for its own sake. It is measured against when that order was promised, which is why the header changes colour as it runs down. When the promise needs to move, you move it on the board.

## The timer is the promise

Tap the timer on a ticket to open a pickup time picker for that order, choose the new time, and save.

## What changes when you save

Boost moves the start time by the same amount as the pickup time. That matters: the gap between the two is your make window, so shifting a pickup by twenty minutes gives you the same amount of time to make the drink, just later. Without that, moving a promise would either make the ticket look instantly late or hide it entirely.

> \[!TIP]
> Move the time when the customer's plan changes, not when your queue is long. The colour on the board is only useful if it is telling you the truth about what you promised.

## When to use it

- A customer calls to say they are running late.
- A large catering order needs to be staged for a specific time.
- An order was placed for the wrong time at the register.

## What you should see

A ticket whose colour matches what you have actually promised, sitting in the right place in the queue, and service-time reporting that measures you against a real commitment.
