# Pairing a Screen with a QR Code

A display on the wall has no keyboard, and you would not want to type your password on one in front of customers anyway. So a Boost screen never asks for one. It shows a code and waits for you to sign in from a device you already trust.

## On the display

Open the Boost screens app on the display. It goes straight to its pairing screen.

The screen shows a QR code and how long that code is good for. Codes expire after an hour, so if a display has been sitting on this screen since yesterday, reload it to get a fresh one before you scan.

## On your phone

Scan the code with your phone, which opens a normal sign-in page tied to that particular display.

Sign in with your Boost account. The display picks the session up and moves on into the app by itself. Nothing is typed on the screen, and your password never appears on a wall.

> Sign in with the account whose signage this is. The display shows whatever that account and location are set up to show, so pairing with the wrong login puts the wrong shop's information on your wall.

## After it is paired

The display registers itself, and you name and configure it from the admin app under **On Location > Screens > Device Settings**: what it displays, which location it belongs to, and which calendar it follows.

> Pair the display first, then name it straight away. A wall of screens all called the same thing is a job nobody enjoys untangling later.

## What you should see

A display that moves off the pairing screen on its own within a few seconds of you signing in on your phone, and a new device waiting to be named in the admin app.
